Mission & Vision
Our mission is to foster a diverse, independent, innovative, ethical and economically thriving media and communications sector that contributes to the creation of successful and sustainable societies in an era of technological and social change.
The future of media in a digital age
Technology is revolutionising economies at every level. At GSMC, media and communication professionals learn to harness its power to collect and analyse information, connect with audiences and tell compelling stories across multiple platforms. Executives, managers and entrepreneurs learn to understand the forces reshaping industry, initiate and defend against disruption, exercise leadership, build teams and talent and turn their ideas into realities.
Our faculty members are experienced professionals from world-renowned media and communications organisations from the region and around the world. And, because we keep our classes small, students work with them directly in our state-of-the-art facilities, gaining a global perspective and developing critical skills through hands-on practice.
East Africa needs journalism that raises the level of debate, helps citizens to fulfill their civic responsibilities, spotlights challenges before they become crises and strives to earn the public’s trust each and every day. It needs reporters with expertise in critical topics such as business, the environment and development. And it needs media enterprises that invest in creating great content and in serving the public interest without fear or favour.
