Creative Writing Workshop

Date: September 29 2018

Cost:   KShs 10,000. Only 10 slots available.

You are an aspiring novelist, but you haven’t settled on a compelling idea. Maybe you have a compelling idea, but you don’t know how to get started. Or perhaps you have a great idea and you’ve started writing, but you’re paralyzed as you think about how you’ll market and sell your masterpiece-in-the-making.

Wherever you find yourself on the winding path to publication, acclaimed novelist Peter Kimani is here to help.

Peter, whose latest work was chosen as a New York Times Notable Book of 2017, will walk you through every stage of writing and publishing a novel – including coming up with a fabulous idea, writing and revising effectively, and then getting your magnum opus into bookstores.

This intensive, two-day workshop will be a blend of inspiration, instruction and hands-on work, designed to ensure that every participant leaves with answers to their thorniest challenges as a would-be novelist.

Peter brings three decades of experience as a writer and poet. He is the author of three novels – Before The Rooster Crows, Upside Down, and most recently, Dance of the Jacaranda. Peter also was one of only three international poets commissioned by National Public Radio to compose and present poems to mark Barack Obama’s inauguration in January 2009.

Participants will take part in group discussions, hear presentations, and do writing and editing exercises. We highly encourage participants to bring their stories to the workshop so that they can apply their learnings immediately to their novels.
